(CNS): Tickets are now on sale for Rundown, the annual comedy revue that pokes fun at Caymanian life, lampooning everything from local politics to the media to the ubiquitous chickens and green iguanas. First performed in 1992, the 2015 production opens 7 May with shows running until 31 May.

Created by singer/songwriter and former Cayman National Cultural Foundation president Dave Martins, the show is now written, designed and directed by CNCF artistic director Henry Muttoo, and features local actors and musicians.

The structure of the popular show will stay the same, Muttoo said. “We keep the same format because the show is now firmly established as Cayman’s major annual theatre production. People are now speaking of the show and looking forward to it like they look forward to Christmas.”

The production will introduce two faces to returning audiences, he said. “Only two actors this year are absolutely newcomers while the others are established Rundown veterans like Leroy Holness, Matt Brown, Giselle Webb and Priscilla Pouchie. Some have done several shows but took a break and are returning this (year).  When the cast is still laughing after three weeks’ rehearsals, you know you have something very good.”

Muttoo added that all the material is new. “What we have is returning characters. People like to follow the life, the development of a particular character and to see if there is a thread to follow from last year’s show.”

Rounding out the cast are Jevaughnie Ebanks, Evana Martinez, Josefa Martinez, Juliet Garricks, Phillipp Richter, George Jones, Kerith McCoy, Rachel Gepolla and Monyque Brooks.

Rundown will be performed 7-10, 15-17 and 29-31 May at the Harquail Theatre, with prices set at $25 for adults and $15 for youth/seniors. Tickets — with the exception of opening night seats, which can only be purchased at the theatre — will be available from Funky Tangs; Foster’s in The Strand; Healthcare Pharmacy, Grand Harbour; and the CNCF offices at the Harquail.
