More stars on board for CayFilm

(CNS): The list of film industry celebrities confirmed to attend the inaugural CayFilm festival, set for 18-20 June, continues to grow, with American actors Wes Studi and Reno Wilson the latest additions.

Among his credits, Native American Studi, 67, has appeared in Dances With Wolves, The Last of the Mohicans, Geronimo: An American Legend, Heat and Avatar.

Wilson, 46, plays Officer Carl McMillan alongside Emmy-award winning actress Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell, in the US sitcom, Mike and Molly. He made his television debut playing Theo’s best friend, Howard, on the legendary television series, The Cosby Show. Wilson will be attending the screening of the film The Week, a comedy in which he stars, that will make its Caribbean debut at the festival.

The guest list for the Cayman International Film Festival already includes director Jon Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never); actor Brian Cox (The Bourne Legacy, The Bourne SupremacySuper Troopers); actress Alexa Vega (Spy Kids trilogy) and her husband, Big Time Rush band member, Carlos Pena; screenwriter and filmmaker James Hart (Hook, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider); film producer Teri Schwartz (Beaches, Sister Act); screenwriter and filmmaker Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull); and Oscar winner Loren Carpenter, co-founder of Pixar Animation Studios.

Of the 600 films from 56 countries that were submitted to the international judging panel, 200 have been selected for showing during the festival. The categories include animation, narrative features, environmental focus, documentaries and extreme sports.
