(CNS): Cayman’s runners will get a chance to sparkle and shine at the second annual Glow Run 5K, set for Saturday, 6 June. The National Trust, in partnership with KPMG, is encouraging participants to “Light up the Night for a Brighter Future” by donning sparkling costumes, face paint, luminous accessories and flashing lights. Proceeds from the run will benefit the Trust.

The race, which starts at 7pm, will loop through Camana Bay, beginning and ending at Abacus restaurant. In addition, there will be an after-party where food, drinks and glow items will be on sale while participants enjoy music played by Cayman’s top DJs.

Participants are encouraged to arrive for registration at 6pm to take advantage of free neon face painting. Additional glow items will be on sale at the Trust merchandise store, located in the Dart Family Park, leading up to the event, as well as on race day. Runners can also get splashed with biodegradable and non-toxic UV-reactive paint and powder along the route and expect to go into extreme glow as they approach KPMG “Glo Hard or Go Home” stations.

The top two finishers among males, females and children will be awarded prizes as will runners in the best costumes. The company that displays team spirit in the most creative way will receive a corporate prize.

Serious competition is not the top priority, however; the craziest costumes, posing in the KPMG “Glo Hard or Go Home” photo booth and being covered in powder and paint when passing through a spray station on the route, are the most entertaining aspects of the event.

People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to take part and get glowed up to run or walk. Each participant will receive a runner’s pack with goodies from race sponsors.

Danielle Watler, marketing coordinator for the National Trust, is looking forward to community involvement in this event. “The National Trust is excited for the return of this ‘must-do’ family run that provides an avenue for the community to learn about the Trust and assist in our conservation efforts while participating in a fun and healthy activity,” she said.

Last year, almost 400 people took part in the race.

Registration, which costs CI$35 for adults and CI$25 for children, can be done online at www.nationaltrust.org.ky. For further details on sponsorship opportunities and volunteer assistance, email marketing@nationaltrust.org.ky or call 749-1121.
