(CNS): After being reelected in April, Jeffrey Webb will be officially installed as CONCACAF president at the 65TH FIFA Congress in Zurich on Friday, 29 May. Webb was reelected unopposed by member associations from North and Central America, and the Caribbean at the confederation’s 30th Ordinary Congress, held in the Bahamas.

“It is an honour, I am humbled yet so very excited to continue my service to the global football family,” Webb said.

“The last three years have been rewarding but not without challenge. On this platform as CONCACAF president and FIFA vice president, I have the opportunity and will do my best to address issues of racism, match fixing and integrity, which threaten the future and beauty of our game.”

Webb initially assumed office in May 2012, following a tumultuous period in CONCACAF which saw the removal of then-President Austin Jack Warner.

In the three years since, Webb has instituted substantial reforms in the game’s administration, governance and competitions, and oversaw an extensive list of player-development initiatives, primarily focused on youth.

“It was the game that brought me here, that I must respect and do my best to leave intact for generations to come,” he said.

During that time, Webb was also appointed chairman of the FIFA Anti-Racism Task Force, to develop and implement changes that tackle incidences of racism in the game globally.

“Tackling racism and creating an effective and sustainable approach to dealing with this issue has been one of the biggest challenges of my tenure,” Webb said.

“The Anti-Racism Task Force has created policy, educational campaigns and trained personnel to address this scourge that blights the game. The outcomes of this engagement we hope will be long term and significantly contribute to the removal of incidents of racism from football once and for all.”

Webb has invited prominent members of the Cayman Islands community, including Premier Alden McLaughlin, to witness the ceremonial installation.

While in Zurich, Webb will unveil the logo for the second CONCACAF Under-15 Boys Championship, to be held in the Cayman Islands and Jamaica in August. Thirty-seven teams, including specially invited guest teams from Brazil, England and Vanuatu, will participate in the tournament.
