Cayman News Service(CNS): A training course for referees will be held next month to certify anyone interested in officiating games for local Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) leagues.

CIFA and the association’s referees’ department will be conducting a beginners’ course from 12-19 July at the George Town Primary School. The course will train individuals who wish to become certified as referees and assistant referees so they can officiate for local football leagues.

Participants will learn about the intricacies of the game, including the offside rule, fouls and misconduct, match management, referee techniques, report writing and fitness techniques. The course is free of charge.

The sessions will comprise classroom and practical lessons, revision and a final examination. Registration is open to those aged between 18 and 35.

To register, call the CIFA Office at 949-5775 or email James Rich.
