Holly Stradling receives first-place award from Woody Foster

(CNS): More than 130 swimmers took part in the 31st Annual Foster’s Food Fair 800m Sea Swim on Saturday, 12 September. Camana Bay Aquatic Club’s (CBAC) Eddie Weber (9:43) was the first man across the finish line, a full 21 seconds ahead of John Bodden (10:04) of Stingray Swim Club (SSC).

Rounding out the top three men was Jonathan Key (10:08). CBAC’s Holly Stradling was the first woman to finish (11:15), followed by SSC’s Ria Plunkett (11:16) and Stefanie Booth (11:22).

“It was great to be on the beach and back in the sea,” said Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association (CIASA) president Michael Lockwood. “Thank you to everyone who volunteered or assisted with the event, contributing to its success and to Foster’s Food Fair and the Foster family who continue to support open-water swimming.”

Foster’s managing director Woody Foster was one of the 133 participants to swim the course and was also on hand to present trophies to those who finished first, second and third in each age category.

CIASA stages and hosts a number of 800m open-water sea swims throughout the year, providing competitive swimmers, tri-athletes and casual swimmers who just want to stay fit, with a safe, organised and properly officiated swim course. The sea swims are a fun, family-friendly event, as evidenced by swimmers competing in the 8 & under and the 60 & over categories.

Full results of the sea swim will be posted on the CIASA website
