(CNS): Caymanian Shanelle Frederick has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for 21-27 September.

The South Georgia State College freshman and native of West Bay, Frederick helped lead the Lady Hawks to a win over Gordon State and to a close match against rival Darton State. Frederick scored a total of six goals and had two assists during the two games.

In an announcement released by the college, Frederick said she was excited about the honour. “Being named Player of the Week for the NJCAA is a big accomplishment for me. I have worked hard for a long time to get here. I owe it all to my previous coaches and family for always pushing me.”

The Lady Hawks, who are 7-1 this season, will be back in action Sunday, 11 October, at Darton State.
