(PFL): It was an exciting day of youth football this past Saturday, 10 October, as the Island’s primary schools battled for school pride during the second week of the 2015/2016 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL) regular seasons.

In Group A at the Annex Field, Truth For Youth recorded their first wins of the young season as they defeated a spirited George Town Primary.

In the Under 9 encounter, Truth For Youth found themselves behind early in the game after George Town’s Jacoby Zelaya and Jaheem Ricketts put Principal Marie Martin’s young troops firmly in front. Truth For Youth’s Jayden Wright and Kevroy Heath restored parity by half time with stand-in goal keeper Jayden Wright scoring the goal of the day.

Young Wright initially saved a goal-bound effort from a George Town forward, rolled the ball into play and proceeded to dribble from his penalty area to his opponent’s penalty area before slotting the ball into the corner of the net. The crowd erupted with cheers and applause for the young Truth For Youth player.

In the second half, Tyrese Heath’s double and a lone strike from Robert Taylor secured the 5-2 win for Truth For Youth.

In the Under 11 game, Truth For Youth defeated George Town Primary 4-0 (mercy rule enforced)

In other Group A games, it was St. Ignatius Prep 2 vs. Sir John A. Cumber Primary 3 (Under 9) and St. Ignatius Prep 1 vs. Sir John A. Cumber Primary 3 (Under 11).

In the Group B games played at the Annex Field, 2015/2016 Opening Rally champions Cayman Prep defeated an energetic South Sound Schools 4-0 in the Under 9 and Under 11 games (mercy rule enforced in both games).

In other Group B games, it was NorthEast Schools 5 vs. Red Bay Primary 2 (Under 9); NorthEast Schools 1 vs. Red Bay Primary 3 (Under 11)); Bodden Town Primary 3 vs. Prospect Primary 4 (Under 9); Bodden Town Primary 1 vs. Prospect Primary 3 (Under 11); and Triple C 1 vs. Cayman Brac 2 (Under 11).

In the CUC Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL), the lone game in Group A saw St. Ignatius Prep go down 0-2 to defending girls’ champions Sir John A. Cumber Primary.

In Group B, Cayman Prep defeated an enthusiastic and energetic Sir John A. Cumber B team 2-0 thanks to goals on either side of half time from Milly Hoffman and Raya Embury-Brown.

The 2015/2016 CUC PFL and GPFL regular seasons continue this Saturday, 17 October  with games at the Annex Field, West Bay Town Hall Field, Bodden Town Primary, Prospect Primary and Cayman International School.
