Cayman News Service(CNS): Both football players and fans of the game will have a lot to cheer about this month, starting this upcoming weekend. The two-day Hot Zone Sports Football Cup kicks off Saturday 10 October, and the 2015/16 Charity Shields matches will take place Sunday, 11 October.

The Hot Zone tournament, organised by Elite Sports Club and running from 9am-9pm on Saturday and Sunday at Ed Bush Field, will comprise boys’ and girls’ youth teams and senior men’s squads. For the younger players, there will be four teams each for Under-15 and Under-17 boys, and Under-17 girls; the winning squad in each category will be the one that comes out on top after three games.

The men’s competition will comprise eight teams, with Elite already registered, along with a visiting Honduras squad. The teams will be divided into two groups of four, with the top in each group playing in the finals.

The tournament is a fundraiser; admission costs $5, which covers both days and includes a raffle ticket.

One player from each age group will be selected to attend Barnet’s training facility, known as The Hive.
