(CNS): Swimmers of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part in the 27th CUC 800m Sea Swim set for Saturday, 10 October. The event begins at 4pm, with registration from 3-3:45pm; swimmers will follow a loop course, starting and ending at Governor’s Beach.

The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association’s (CIASA) sea swims attract both competitive and non-competitive swimmers, and are a family activity with parents able to swim with their children. Entry fees for CIASA members are $10 for children and $15 for adults; non-members pay $15 for children and $20 for adults.

CUC president and CEO Richard Hew spoke of his company’s continued support of swimming. “We look forward to our 27th year of working with CIASA to stage the annual CUC 800m Sea Swim. The event fits squarely with our aim to promote the participation by youth in sports and a healthy lifestyle in Cayman, and we anticipate a strong attendance and competition at all youth age groups for this Saturday’s event,” he said.

“The CUC swim is also a great family event with many parents and other adults through the senior age groups also participating, so we encourage anyone willing to give an 800m swim a try to come out on Saturday.”

CIASA president Michael Lockwood added, “We are grateful for CUC’s continued support to swimming in Cayman and in particular to our open sea swims. We look forward to seeing you all out on Saturday, October 10th.”

All swimmers are provided with swim caps, which must be worn for safety reasons. In addition, participants will receive event T-shirts, and trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Refreshments and Subway sandwiches will be provided at the end of the race.
