(CNS): Law firm Ogier has awarded its 2015 scholarship to Tania Smith, who recently completed her LL.B (honours) degree in law from the University of Liverpool. She has also undertaken two internships, with Ogier and Beretta Godoy, gaining practical experience in private offshore financial and legal practices.

Smith has now begun her Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law, London.

Each year Ogier awards a number of opportunities to high-performing Caymanian students pursuing a career in law.  Students are selected based on solid, competitive academics as well as other key competencies that are important in driving the business forward.

Nick Rogers, managing partner of Ogier in Cayman, spoke highly of Smith. “Tania has fully committed herself to pursuing a successful career as an attorney.  Tania impressed everyone with her attitude and capability during her internship with Ogier and during the scholarship application process, and we are confident that she will continue to thrive in the next phase of her legal education,” he said.

“Ogier is committed to offering excellent opportunities to talented students looking to get the best possible start to their legal careers.  We are pleased to support Tania as she goes on to complete her LPC at University of Law in London and we look forward to her return to Ogier.”

Ogier offers opportunities for students at all stages in their education; from school work experience or vacation placements to scholarships and post-graduate training schemes.
