(CNS): RBC Royal Bank last week presented 40 backpacks containing school supplies to local students. Area vice president and country manager Michael Munnings explained that the donation shows the bank’s commitment to education.

“RBC is grateful for the opportunity to be able to give back to the community in a tangible way by providing school bags and supplies to our students as a source of encouragement to excel,” he said.

“RBC Royal Bank remains committed to improving our community, making investments in education, youth and the development of people. Through our involvement in a number of community care initiatives, we seek to ensure that our volunteer efforts make an indelible mark for good in our community, and by extension, throughout the Cayman Islands.”

Among those present at the handover were school administrators and the five recipient students from each school, along with parents. The students represented George Town Primary, Red Bay Primary, Cayman Academy, Truth For Youth, Prospect Primary, Bodden Town Primary, Savannah Primary and John A. Cumber Primary.

The donation was made on behalf of the RBC Royal Bank Caribbean community resource group. Munnings added that the school bags include supplies that would help the students to have fun but also keep them focused on important aspects of growth and development.

“We hope that this donation will encourage you to continue to strive for excellence in your educational endeavours and to be the best that you can be. You are the future. RBC Royal Bank salutes you,” he said.

Throughout the northern Caribbean, RBC donated 560 bags in 18 countries.
