Action between Cayman International School (in white) and George Town Primary

(PFL): The action was fierce on Saturday, 7 November, as the 2015/2016 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL) regular seasons resumed play following the private schools’ mid-term break.

The featured games in Group A at the Dart Field in Camana Bay saw Cayman International School up against George Town Primary. In the Under-9 match-up, Cayman International’s Toby Johns scored a hat trick with two of his three goals coming in the first six minutes of play. Chad Murphy added to his team’s tally with a fourth goal and Danny Lyne rounded off the scoring to record a 5-0 win and an official 4-0 “mercy rule” victory.

In the GPFL game between the two schools, Cayman International School recorded their third victory of the season to remain undefeated with a 4-0 mercy rule victory over the team from George Town Primary.

Cayman International was tenacious from the starting whistle, quickly scoring three goals as George Town Primary struggled to get a grip on the game. With the score 5-0 at halftime and the scoring officially over according to the mercy rule, George Town Primary were determined to show that they have improved as the season has progressed. Their play during the second half was much better as they passed the ball around and occasionally troubled the Cayman International School defence.

In the Under-11 game, it was the outstanding Toby Johns taking centre stage as he scored his school’s second goal and his fourth of the morning as Cayman International defeated George Town Primary 2-0. Andrew Weber opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Johns sealed the victory in the 58th minute.

As with the girls, the boys from George Town Primary have improved immensely during the course of the season and will be looking for further improvement as they battle Savannah Primary this coming Saturday, 14 November.

In other Group A games in the PFL, it was Truth For Youth 0 vs Savannah Primary 4 (Under 9 – mercy rule), and Truth For Youth 3 vs Savannah Primary 2 (Under 11).

In other Group B games, it was Red Bay Primary 3 vs Prospect Primary 1 (Under 9); Red Bay Primary 2 vs Prospect Primary 0 (Under 11); South Sound Schools 4 vs Bodden Town Primary 0 (Under 9); South Sound Schools 4 vs Bodden Town Primary 0 (Under 11 – mercy rule); Triple C 0 vs Cayman Prep 4 (Under 9 – mercy rule); Triple C 0 vs Cayman Prep 4 (Under 11 – mercy rule) and NorthEast Schools 1 vs Cayman Brac 5 (Under 11).

In Group B of the GPFL, it was Triple C 3 vs Cayman Prep 4.

The young referees continue to do an exemplary job as they handle all the weekly officiating duties.

The regular season continues this Saturday, 14 November with the sixth round of games being played at the West Bay Town Hall Field, Annex Field, Prospect Primary, Cayman Prep and Triple C.
