(CNS): The Gallery at The Ritz-Carlton recently celebrated a milestone 10th birthday with the launch of the exhibition, “Serenity”, set to last until mid-April, and organisers say the evolution of this art gallery has enriched both the resort’s guests and locals alike with its diverse and ever-changing offerings.

The gallery, located in the bridge that connects the two sides of the property, spans the width of West Bay Road, making it a popular walkway for guests and a good location for local artists to showcase their talents.

Chris Christian, director of the gallery, said it has been exciting to see the space grow over the years into a really important showcase for local artwork.

“We began back in 2006 with just a handful of local artists who saw the opportunity to use the space to promote their artwork,” he said. “Now, we are currently hosting an incredible 45 local artists exhibiting around 300 pieces of artwork, so it shows just how well received the gallery has been in those 10 years.”

Marc Langevin, general manager of the resort, said it has been an honour to have Christian as the curator over the last decade.

“Chris, being from Cayman and one of the leading established artists on island, it was an obvious choice and we have formed a great relationship that has grown over the years,” Langevin said. “He has brought on not only amazing artists and highlighted their work to our locals and visitors but has done it with The Ritz-Carlton standards in mind.”

Langevin added that the gallery has progressed over the years, becoming very popular with visitors who can take a home a piece of art that will remind them of their time on island.

“We also enjoy seeing the new artists come out every quarter and hear about their inspirations and how excited they are to be in the gallery. This is a unique feature to our hotel that allows us to stand out and is most definitely a valuable contribution to the resort,” he said.
