(CNS): More than 40 children, parents and volunteers turned out for the recent Lions Club of Tropical Gardens Fun Day held at the Airport Park in George Town. The event, which took place Sunday, 20 December, was specially designed as a treat for diabetic children in Cayman.

This project was the first of its kind, allowing children with diabetes to meet other kids facing the same challenges in a relaxed environment. Activities included face painting and a kid-friendly talk given by a certified dietitian on fun, healthy meals. There were also games, healthy snacks, lots of giveaways and special gifts for all participating children.

Committee chairperson, Lion Jasmine Minott, said it was “a very good project which mixed education with fun; and we were very happy to see parents taking the time out of the Christmas rush to bring their children to this special tailor-made event”.

Lion Clint Powery added, “Lions are committed to enabling the very young to the very old through projects which truly touch lives,” he said.
