Hollywood director confirms CayFilm attendance

(CNS): A veteran US director is the latest to join the list of film-industry professionals who will be attending the CayFilm Cayman International Film Festival being held 1-4 July 2016. Adam Kane, who is also a director of photography, has worked on such TV series as Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes and The Minority Report, which Steven Spielberg produced.

At the festival, Kane will be conducting a panel on working in the film business and sharing some of his stories from his early days shooting TV shows and movies. He was born in Southern California to a musical family but found his personal voice by telling stories with pictures and creating home movies.

During his 25 years of filmmaking, he has also directed episodes for TV shows including Daredevil, Hannibal, Sleepy Hollow, Extant, Falling Skies, Supernatural, The Mentalist, and the pilot for the Stephen King series Haven. He has worked with such actors as Matthew McConaughey, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey, Jr, Willem Dafoe and Charlie Sheen.

In features, Kane’s political thriller, Formosa Betrayed, was theatrically released in more than 80 cities across the US and Canada. It won best feature and best actor at the San Diego Film Festival and the audience award at the Philadelphia Asian American Festival. His family drama, The Fix, won nine major festival awards, including best drama, best of fest and best director, and qualified for the 2007 Academy Awards.

CayFilm will include daily film screenings, question-and-answer sessions with filmmakers, panel discussions, workshops, exclusive premiere screenings, and celebrity opening and closing galas.

Among the planned highlights of the festival are a Star Wars cast and crew reunion and the presenting of a lifetime achievement award to Robert Watts, one of the producers of the original three films in that series. More A-list celebrity names are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
