(CNS): Pedro St James has teamed up with the makers of the documentary Bright Spot – Tamer Soliman and Rob Tyler – to celebrate the Cayman coconut and preserve its ties to Cayman culture and heritage. The national heritage site will host Coco Fest from 12pm-4pm on Saturday, 20 February, which will feature local vendors showcasing products made with the Cayman coconut – food, drinks, beauty products, crafts and games.

Bright Spot will also be shown from 2pm-3pm in the theatre.

Gilbert Connolly, CEO of the Tourism Attraction Board, said, “We are very pleased to be hosting this cultural event at Pedro Castle and are enthusiastic for the opportunities it will bring to the Cayman community.”

Nutritionist and filmmaker Soliman added, “Coco Fest is really about celebrating the Cayman coconut – a bountiful food source with legendary properties, and a traditional staple in the Caymanian diet.”

Admission to Coco Fest is CI$5 for adults and free for children under 12.
