(CNS): The Maples and Calder Corporate Services Department recently raised CI$2,250 for local charity Feed Our Future, by holding a bake sale for staff. The department’s biannual bake sales have raised more than CI$10,000 since 2013, with proceeds from previous events going to organisations such as Cayman’s ARK, the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre and Meals on Wheels.

“We are so pleased to have been able to assist another valuable cause with one of our bake sales,” said Allison Smith, head of corporate services at Maples. “The amount raised really is a testament to the generosity and community-mindedness of our staff, many of whom donated above and beyond the price of the sweets we had for sale that day.”

Feed Our Future’s primary mission is to solve childhood hunger throughout the Cayman Islands. Established in mid-2011, the charity helps to promote and elevate nutritional needs of at-risk children through funding nutritionally balanced and low-cost or free school meals to young people in need at both public and private schools. The funds raised will also support educational workshops on nutrition, shopping and cooking for families.
