(CNS): The Legends at Camana Bay tennis tournament is set for this weekend, 5 and 6 February, with matches featuring some of the sport’s biggest names. The players taking part are Grand Slam champions Jim Courier and Andy Roddick, crowd-favourite Anna Kournikova and Camana Bay Legends’ newcomers Mark Philippoussis, Mansour Bahrami and Ashley Harkleroad.

The athletes will compete in mixed doubles, men’s doubles and men’s singles matches but will also interact with the community through radio appearances, school talks and group training clinics.

Philippoussis and Bahrami will kick off the proceedings with a live on-air radio interview at DMS Broadcasting on Friday (5 February) morning.

Courier and Harkleroad will later both be on hand to run training clinics with a select group of schoolchildren and Special Olympics athletes, with Roddick, Philippoussis and Kournikova also leading one-on-one tennis clinics within the community.

Bahrami will also be accompanying Legends master of ceremonies Andrew Krasny for a special meet-and-greet session with schoolchildren inside the Arts and Recreation Centre at Camana Bay on Friday at 3.30pm.

Event director Jeff Wight said, “Although Legends is only a two-night event, we really want to maximise the time that we have with the players whilst they are on island by organising events and clinics that we know will be of huge benefit to the local community. The stands are up, tickets are nearly sold out and we are really looking forward to a great couple of days with our legends.”

General admission tickets, at $75 each, are on sale at the Discovery Centre in Camana Bay or through Blackbeard’s outlets across the island. VIP tickets, at $250 for standing or $350 for seated, can be purchased by emailing Legends.

Premium VIP tickets for Friday evening have sold out and there are limited general admission seats available for Saturday.

Anyone interested in attending the school talk with Bahrami and Krasny should email Naomi Law
