(CNS): The 2016 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Continental Tour will be stopping at Seven Mile Beach from 22-24 April, marking the eighth time the Cayman Islands has hosted a leg of this international competition. Annually attracting top players from more than 15 countries including Olympic medallists such as Todd Rogers (gold medal) and Phil Dalhausser, the tour is a major asset for sports tourism in Cayman.

The competition, one of the most well-attended sporting events of the year, will be streamed lived on the Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation’s (CIVF) YouTube channel. The tournament will be held at Public Beach, next to Calico Jack’s. This year, the stands will be extended to include more covered seating and VIP areas to accommodate a more comfortable viewing experience. The prices of general admission tickets, VIP tickets and weekend passes range from $5- $75, which will include extras such as raffle tickets for prizes, snacks and beverages.

Last year, the Cayman Islands female national team won the coveted gold at the Natwest Island Games in Jersey, finished 16th place overall for the NORCECA 2015 season, and earned an impressive silver medal at the first Olympic qualifier in Jamaica on the CAZOVA (Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association) Continental Tour. The male national team had a tough fight against leading competitors and placed 21 out of 25.
