Participants discuss the CIFEC internship programme

(CNS): The career services team at the Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC) hosted a breakfast meeting this week for employers taking part in the Year 12 internship programme, which caters for students attending the school. The early morning forum held Wednesday, 16 March, provided an opportunity for the team to receive feedback on the initiative.

“Of particular note is the employers’ continued support for providing work placement opportunities for young people,” said Heather-Ann Cahill, career services manager at CIFEC.

“In addition to sharing their experiences, forum members in the spirit of partnership, gave suggestions on how the programme may be improved so that businesses, young people and the community as a whole could benefit.”

Operating since 2009, the Year 12 programme is designed to provide valuable work experience opportunities in collaboration with employers, with this school year’s internships ending 24 March.
