(CNS): As part of the Cayman Airways U-14 Invitational Youth Cup, Academy Sports Club is hosting an international football camp, at which participants will have the opportunity to train with coaches from the tournament’s visiting teams. The camp will be held Sunday, 26 June at the Camana Bay Sports Complex. The coaches will concentrate on improving techniques of the basic skills such as passing, dribbling and shooting and will emphasise the importance of proper footwork and ball control.

The camp also aims to build the self-confidence of players individually and to promote the importance of teamwork.

Academy Sports Club head coach Virgil Seymour said of the camp, “We are delighted to be able to offer this camp as a bonus to the Cayman Airways U-14 Invitational Youth Cup. It is not often that players have the chance to train with coaches from international teams and to benefit from their vast experience, so we encourage as many boys and girls as possible to come out and take advantage of this opportunity.

“Participants in the camp will be put through their paces, that’s for sure, but it will be also be fun and provide an environment where all the players can expect to improve their skills, technique and knowledge of the game.”

The camp, which costs $50 and is aimed at 8-16 year olds, will run from 8:30am-12:30pm. The first 100 children to register will receive a free camp T-shirt.

To register online go to the Cayman Youth Football Cup website or sign up at the camp registration desk during the tournament, which is set for 20-25 June
