Law firm offers internship opportunities

(CNS): Law firm Collas Crill has this year taken on three interns as part of a commitment to support Cayman education initiatives and offer career-development opportunities in both legal and company-management services. Managing partner Alan de Saram said of the interns, “We are very pleased to have confirmed three student work experience placements in 2016, with plans to further expand our career-development programme in 2017.”

Mariskca Blackman, after completing the University College of the Cayman Islands associate degree programme in legal studies, was placed with Collas Crill to finish her practical internship requirement with the law firm. Blackman spent 10 days with Collas Crill gaining on-the-job experience within the practice areas of dispute resolution, corporate/finance, investment funds and fiduciary.

While interning, she continuted to work full time with Elian Fiduciary Services (Cayman) Limited. “Mariskca has proven to be a hard worker who is extremely focused on her career goals and we wish her much success in her future,” said Stephen Leontsinis, partner in the dispute resolution department.

Cynthia Hydes joined Collas Crill Corporate Services Limited in July for summer work experience, as project administrator. Hydes is studying in Boston, Massachusetts, and has aspirations of beginning a career in law once she has been awarded her degree. Cynthia will work full time for July and August, assisting the team with various projects.

Joan Ebanks will join Collas Crill Corporate Services Limited in August, from the Cayman Finance Student Education & Work Experience Programme (CFS Programme). The CFS initiative aims to provides a pathway for high-performing students into the Cayman Islands financial-services industry, resulting in job-ready and engaged young professionals.

The month-long placement will expose Ebanks to the world of corporate services and what it is like to work in the financial-services sector of the Cayman Islands.

Collas Crill provides legal and corporate services in the Cayman Islands, with offices in Singapore, London, Guernsey and Jersey.
