(CNS): The Grand Cayman Toastmasters Club has named a new executive committee to serve for 2016/17. The club is part of Toastmasters International, an organisation that promotes individuals to become effective communicators and leaders. The Cayman chapter meets every Thursday from 6pm to 7:15pm on the third floor of the George Town Public Library.

The local club provides an opportunity for members in Cayman to improve their public speaking and leadership skills, as they undertake formal meeting roles and present speeches in a mutually supportive environment.

Paul Mahipal Persaud will serve as president over the year, with Jodiann Jackson, vice president-education; Ayon Baxter, vice president-membership; Victoria King, secretary; Sasha Rochester, treasurer; Gabriel Godet, sergeant-at-arms; and Anna Clarke, immediate past president.

In addition to its members’ development, the club annually trains high school students in public speaking and leadership skills through its youth leadership programme. The Toastmasters also help train the contestants for Miss Teen Cayman Islands and Miss Cayman Islands in public speaking.
