Premier Alden McLaughlin presents his welcome address at the 2015 Healthcare Conference

(CNS): This year’s Cayman Islands Healthcare Conference, set for 20-22 October, will focus on optimal health during the various stages of life under the theme “The Chapters of a Healthy Life”. The conference will look at a range of topics over the entire lifespan covering children and adolescents, women and men, as well as older persons.

This marks the seventh annual conference and will be held at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. Almost 1,000 delegates attended last year’s three-day event.

Premier and Minister of Health Alden McLaughlin noted that this year’s theme is particularly fitting as the Cayman Islands continues to develop its healthcare services.

“By bringing together experts from a variety of fields, we aim to provide our local medical and healthcare professionals the opportunity to develop their knowledge to ultimately create a better experience for their patients,” he said.

“This conference also offers a wealth of knowledge to members of the community to educate themselves on ways to support their health and wellness, or the health and wellness of their families and clients.”

Lizzette Yearwood, chair of the conference planning committee and CEO of the Health Services Authority, said the event continues to offer both medical professionals and the general public the opportunity to educate themselves through the various talks and breakout sessions.

“Whether attending for business or personal reasons, it is my sincerest hope that everyone leaves the conference with the knowledge and tools to sustain their health at each stage of their life,” she said.

As in previous years, the event will be free due to the support of a wide range of sponsors.

Healthcare aka sickcare services have nothing to do with lifelong health, they come into play after your health is already gone.
Lifelong health starts with prevention, and that starts with clean air and water, chemicals free food.
Besides, modern day sickcare can diagnose you all right, but has no idea how to treat you.
Only emergency medicine is worthy a praise. Millions with chronic diseases get little or no treatment.
