East End Primary received a donation

(CNS Local Life): Funds raised at the 10th annual Breeze Fusion 5K Run/Walk, held Saturday, 5 November, have benefitted the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), East End Primary School, and the Edna Moyle Primary School in North Side, with $2,000 donated to each. In a show of support, George Town, Savannah, Prospect and Bodden Primary schools fielded teams for the event.

Principals, teachers, MLAs and private-sector companies joined the students.

Radio Cayman’s deputy director Paulette Conolly-Bailey said, “I am so overwhelmed at the outpouring of support we received from the community at large which made our event such a huge success. I’m looking forward to next year’s event being even bigger and better.”

The top three male finishers were Jason Saunders (with a time of 17:29.92), followed by Levi Superville (19:22.45) and Paul Williams (20:11.65). The top three females were Catherine Conway (19:03.78), Carmen Cagabcab (25:32.38) and Laurie Bilovesky (25:35.48).

Radio Cayman director Norma McField thanked all who participated or supported the event, noting that there were more than 300 registrants for the event, which was held at Smith Barcadere. She also applauded the volunteers from the Cayman Islands Red Cross, the Lions Club, and the Leos Club of University College of the Cayman Islands.

Additional sponsorship of students and their schools came from Ministers Osbourne Bodden and Wayne Panton, as well as from MLAs Ezzard Miller and Arden McLean – who also participated in the 5K.

Other participants included Deputy Governor Franz Manderson and his wife Nuvia, Acting Commissioner of Police Anthony Ennis, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kurt Walton, Cabinet Secretary Samuel Rose and Director of Cabinet’s Policy Coordination Unit Robert Lewis.
