(CNS Local Life): More than 175 cubic yards of trash and waste were removed from North Side over the weekend of 19-20 November in the run-up to the Christmas holidays. Edward Chisholm, who spearheaded the effort, said, “I appreciate all who participated in this clean-up and encourage those who missed out on this opportunity to work with government when it does its official clean-up.”

Items collected from roadsides and peoples’ yards included old tube televisions, clothes washers and dryers, air conditioner units, refrigerators, bedding and even kitchen sinks. It was an early effort to help North Side residents get their homes and yards cleaned for Christmas. The government effort will commence soon.

Island Waste Carriers provided dumpsters and a grab truck for the clean-up. “We were more than happy to help,” said the company’s Jason Brown. “While this is our business, we always welcome and appreciate the opportunity to help out our fellow man.”

Chisholm has now turned his attention to helping North Siders get rid of derelict vehicles. “It’s a big task to take on,” he said. “But it is one that I think is necessary and will help reunite our community.”
