(CNS Local Life): Crowds gathered on the waterfront were treated to the annual Pirates Week parade Saturday, 12 November, as floats of all descriptions passed by. The popular event showcased creative forces from the various districts with the East End entry taking top honours in the float competition, besting George Town by a single point, and West Bay notching third place.

Representing the festival’s theme, “Age of Romance”, the floats celebrated love Cayman-style. The East End entry included a traditional Cayman chapel where a wedding was conducted, along with an underwater scene.

The George Town float showcased an old Cayman wedding and celebration complete with a sand yard and bride in a traditional dress.

West Bay highlighted the courtship ritual with a display that included a groom’s “letter of intention” asking the potential bride’s parents for permission to marry.
