(CNS Local Life): Police Commissioner Derek Byrne recently made his first trip to Little Cayman, meeting with police officers, the district administration, and the greater community.  This visit, on Thursday, 8 December, followed a November trip to Cayman Brac as part of his general orientation to all three islands and the policing concerns specific to each.

Byrne met local officers and business owners; visited the local school; met with Roger Scott, the Little Cayman district officer; and held a community meeting which was well-attended by local residents.  During that meeting, Byrne heard the community’s concerns about speeding, bikes with no lights at night, and poaching of conch and lobster.

“This has been an extremely informative trip, and I’m grateful for the warm welcome I’ve received,” said Byrne, “The concerns of the Sister Islands are a policing priority and will be given the attention they need right alongside those of Grand Cayman.”

  1. Missing Kirk Freeport says:

He went to Cayman Brac??? When???

It is hard to keep secrets on the Brac, but this one was!

The police have still not solved the many recent break-ins so perhaps he was too embarrassed to meet the people.

Come on Commissioner, hold a proper public meeting and introduce yourself.
