Rotaract president Pierre Connolly receives donation from CITA head Tiffany Dixon-Ebanks

(CNS Local Life): The Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA) donated almost $2,900 to the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman and Rotaract Blue through their raffle at the recent 29th Taste of Cayman Food and Drink Festival, to support the clubs’ continued activities within the community. Pierre Connolly, president of Rotaract Grand Cayman, said that both organisations were happy not only to have been chosen as the beneficiaries of this year’s raffle but also to have an opportunity to interact further with the community they serve through volunteering to help sell the raffle tickets.

“Taste of Cayman has become a staple event in the Cayman community calendar and we are pleased to have had the opportunity to get out there and share in all of the festivities,” Connolly said.

CITA executive director Tiffany Dixon-Ebanks said, “We are so happy that the raffle was a success this year. The members of Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman and Rotaract Blue do such amazing work within our community, which is reflective of our own values here at CITA, and we are delighted to be able to give back to this organisation.”

The total donation was $2,870.50.

Francesca Hamann, president of Rotaract Blue, added, “Taste of Cayman is one of the best examples of what the Cayman community is: a diverse group of people coming together to support and help each other grow and develop. It was a pleasure to be involved in this year’s event and we can’t wait to see what next year’s 30th anniversary has to bring.”

Renee Prendergast won the raffle grand prize of a packaged trip to the South Beach Wine and Food Festival in Miami, where she and a guest will attend various events including a cooking demonstration with Andrew Zimmern and a cocktail showdown with Robert Irvine.

“The raffle was loaded with so many wonderful items, from staycations and spa vouchers to gift certificates for some of Cayman’s best restaurants,” Dixon-Ebanks said. “We are very grateful to all our CITA members who donated these amazing prizes and trust that all winners will be excited with their gifts.”
