(CNS Local Life): Donna Ebanks has been named the Cayman Islands Government Employee of the Month for December 2016 for being most helpful and festive. Over the holiday season, Ebanks, who works at the Facilities Management Department, reached out to school choirs in Grand Cayman and offered students an opportunity to showcase their musical talents. As a result, more than 300 students participated in the festivities.

The performances included dancing, singing and playing instruments to skits along with public speaking in the lobby of the GAB over a nine-day period.

Additionally, Ebanks has been working behind the scenes to streamline business processes that ensure customer satisfaction while maximising productivity and efficiency. She often arrives early to guarantee the smooth sailing of operations, said a government press release.

Facilities Management Director Troy Whorms said, “It is often difficult to select one person from our high performing team at GAB, but Ms Ebanks’ effort and dedication made a positive impact on our youth and various agencies at the Government Administration Building during the month of December.”

Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing & Infrastructure Chief Officer Alan Jones praised the department for its efficiency, saying “as a whole (it) is often overlooked as people tend to forget about them until something goes wrong. The fact that this happens so infrequently is testament to how well things are run. Donna is a vital part of the team and an excellent employee. I wish we had more like her.”

Deputy Governor Franz Manderson also lauded Ebanks’ effort. “Your passion to serve the youth came through loud and clear, not only benefitting the students by giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents in public, but also by touching the hearts of their audience,” he said.

“This made a positive impact on our youth and various agencies with the building during the month of December and I thank for your dedication.”

The deputy governor added, “This recognition reinforces the values and standards that we expect all staff to exhibit.  You serve as a role model for all Cayman Islands civil servants.

“Thank you, Donna, for demonstrating such a remarkable level of performance and commitment to the Cayman Islands Government.”
