Registration opens for upcoming school year

CNS Local Life(CNS Local Life): The registration period for students enrolling in, or transferring to, government schools for the 2017/2018 school year will run from Monday, 3 April 2017 to Friday 30 June 2017. Registration for government reception is open for qualifying children who will turn 4 years old before 1 September 2017, meaning a child born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013 will be eligible.

The primary schools with reception classes are Sir John A Cumber, George Town, Prospect, Savannah, Bodden Town, North Side and East End on Grand Cayman, and West End and Creek on Cayman Brac.

Registration for Year 1 in government schools is open for qualifying children who will turn 5 years old before 1 September 2017, meaning born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012.

Older students transferring internally, re-entering or entering for the first time into the government system should register by 23 June 2017 to be eligible to attend classes at the start of the school year.

Registration will take place at the Department of Education Services (DES) at 130 Thomas Russell Way, George Town, and the Cayman Brac Teacher’s Centre. Forms are available at those two locations as well as at government schools, or can be downloaded from the DES website.
