Pink Lady Julia Kandiah presents donation to staff of Cayman HospiceCare

(CNS Local Life): The Pink Ladies Volunteer Corps has donated to a number of Cayman Islands organisations as a result of their fundraising work, predominantly the annual Christmas bazaar and tea. The two main recipients were The Pines retirement home and the National Council of Voluntary Organisations, two groups that since its inception have been the focus of Pink Ladies support.

Lynda Mitchell, manager of The Pines, was given a cheque for $10,000. Janice Wilson received $15,000 for the NCVO, $10,000 of which had been pledged at the telethon in October.

The Lighthouse School was another recipient, with Pink Ladies member Lela Marshall, who volunteers at the school, presenting new principal Elroy Brown with a donation of $5000.

The National Trust received $1,000, half to be used for continuing to fund the day-to-day needs of the blue iguana, “Lady Pink”, and the rest for the iguana-release programme.

In addition, the Pink Ladies donated $5,000 to Cayman HospiceCare in the memory of long-serving members Patsy Alberga and Jilly Stone, who passed away earlier this year.

The Pink Ladies also contributed to the Children’s Garden at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park project in association with the Garden Club of Grand Cayman.

The Pink Ladies will hold this year’s Christmas bazaar on 2 December at the Arts and Recreation Centre in Camana Bay.
