Julie Cuartero completes half marathon last year

(CNS Local Life): Organisers of the Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon, set for Sunday, 3 December, are reminding runners and walkers that the deadline is approaching to get the least expensive registration rate for the 2017 race. Anyone who signs up for the event by 31 August will benefit from the lowest registration prices. The fee for the full marathon is $72, half-marathon $48, and four-person relay $152. These rates will increase by $8, $4 and $16, respectively, after the end of the month and will continue to go up until the week before the race.

“The new registration fees after 31 August will still be economical but registering now will save people money, which we know many will appreciate these days,” said race director Rhonda Kelly of Kelly Holding Ltd. “Once you have registered, you are more motivated to train because you have committed financially. Plus, it also encourages you to get out there and get ready to race. Some local runners tend to register at the last minute, but we hope that these great early registration fees will be an incentive to register sooner rather than later.”

Kelly also reminded the public about the race’s runner-loyalty programme where individual runners who have participated in the marathon or half-marathon for three consecutive years are eligible to receive the cheapest rate in 2017 no matter when they register. Those rates can be taken advantage of until the day before the race.

The programme discounts are available when registering online, but eligible participants will need to register at the Kelly Holding office or mail in a registration form with their fee after the rates increase at the end of the month.
