(CNS Local Life): A group training for the Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon is raising money for the Special Needs Foundation Cayman (SNFC) with every mile the runners clock. Since training started in August for the Intertrust Island Striders, they have run more than 8,000 miles, longer than the Great Wall of China at 5,500 miles. With US$0.25 donated by Intertrust for every mile run, this brings the amount raised to date to US$2,150, with about six weeks still to go until the 3 December race.

Led by fitness guru Scott Ruby in conjunction with CrossFit 7 Mile, the 40-strong team of runners has been training three times a week since August, stated an Intertrust press release.

Brian Eden, who will be running the half marathon, said, “I can’t believe we’ve travelled that distance as a group. The training has been brilliant; I am really enjoying it this year.”

Susie Bodden of SNFC said of the group’s efforts: “We are so excited on two levels, firstly that any money raised will benefit our special needs children and their families; but also secondly that a large group of people are thinking about us every mile that they run, knowing that the more running they do the more they benefit those in need. Please keep running.”

The group is expected to run at least another 8,000 miles before the December marathon.

As a Christian nation we need to stop running from these people and stand up for ourselves.
