(CNS Local Life): Hundreds of students and members of the general public attended the 2018 Careers, Education & Training Expo, which took place Friday, 23 February, at the University College of the Cayman Islands. The event, organised by the Chamber of Commerce, enables businesses and organisations in the Cayman Islands to promote their scholarship, internship, further education and career opportunities to local students and residents.

More than 30 exhibitors participated in the expo, representing such industries as tourism, financial services, legal, technology and health.

“The Expo is an important part of the Chamber’s educational strategy as it bridges the worlds of the classroom and the workplace,” said president Paul Byles. “Students gain an in-depth look at the opportunities that await them after graduation, and it’s a great way for businesses to interact with our future leaders.”

The Ministry of Education pledged their support for the Expo, with the Education Council chairperson, Dan Scott, saying: “This annual event has established itself as a premier event in equipping our students and job seekers with comprehensive information on further studies, training, and career opportunities, all at one location.

“The only way one can take full advantage of any opportunity is not to fear it, but rather be open and willing to adapt in order to maximise its possibilities…to prepare our young people to meet the challenges and opportunities in this economy, we cannot work alone in mentoring the future of the Cayman Islands. All stakeholders have a crucial role to play by providing training and internship opportunities for our young people.”
