Stingray Swim Club with their haul of trash

(CNS Local Life): For the second straight year, members of Stingray Swim Club (SSC) took part in an Earth Day clean-up, with 45 people heading to Windsor Park to clear the neighbourhood of trash. Members, along with family and friends, filled more than 50 bags, going through 120 pairs of latex gloves in the process.

With so many young people participating, the activity quick become competitive, said head coach David Pursley in an SSC press release, so that individual groups began vying to collect the most trash in the allotted amount of time.

He added that the Earth Day activity “was an opportunity to give back to the community which supports us, and to help our swimmers develop a healthy relationship with the future of the island and their environment. Overall it was a great team-building activity and an awesome day.”
