Update on BlueSky Airlines

| 29/04/2018

Ask Auntie, CNS Local Life, Caymanian status(Auntie): After last week’s column on BlueSky Airlines (see BlueSky Airlines has dropped off radar) in which I explained I was unable to contact anyone from the company, I heard back from an executive there. What follows is what I have learned from Mark Ellinger, managing director of the airline.

BlueSky “remains active in the pre-launch phase”, he said, which involves “negotiating with investors; evaluating potential vendors, suppliers and partners; and closely monitoring planned and potential future destinations”.

Mr Ellinger also confirmed that they have found another company from which they can lease airplanes. In the original question, the reader noted that the executive team is no longer listed on the website, but Mr Ellinger said that “once the team is complete” those names will go up.

Perhaps most importantly I was told that the airline expects to announce the start date of the operation by the end of the third quarter of this year. Feel free to write me again around that time if you haven’t heard any news and I will follow up with BlueSky.
