(CNS Local Life): Angela Sealey has been named the new chief executive officer of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). With a background in social work, Sealey has spent many years working with special needs children, child abuse cases, drug and alcohol intervention and other issues facing at-risk youth.

“We are thrilled that someone with a successful history working with children and broad experience in the non-profit sector, will lead the NCVO forward,” said board chairman Tim Courtis in an NCVO press release. “Angela is a strong, team-focused leader with the ability to create change and enrich our community.”

Before joining the NCVO, Sealey was the CEO/General Manager of the Children and Youth Services, a government agency responsible for providing 24-hour residential services to children in need of care and protection; she also served most recently as the director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Cayman Islands.

“I am delighted to be leading the NCVO into its next phase of growth,” Sealey said. “I am eager to continue to learn about our various programmes and community initiatives. I look forward to meeting the many people who help to make our work so meaningful and working alongside our wonderful staff, board of directors and our many community partners.”

Officially joining the NCVO in February, Sealey is responsible for the daily management and operation of the non-profit’s 25 staff members, seven programmes and thrift shop.

The NCVO is an independent, non-profit, charitable organisation which engages in projects to meet the ever-growing needs of the community.
