(CNS Local Life): The fourth PwC Grand Prix, held Sunday, 27 May, and organised by the Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands (TFCI), attracted 31 players across three age categories competing as singles. The tournament, at the Cayman Islands Tennis Club, featured doubles matches.

Although the day was marked by bad weather and no matches were played on Friday, tournament director Ilian Nachev was able to ensure all the matches went ahead and the competition completed, both in the singles and the doubles, stated a TCFI press release. He noted the tournament environment was positive and the players’ behaviour was commendable.

The 10 and under division had 12 participants, including five players competing in a tennis tournament for the first time. Albert Berksoy prevailed over newcomer Ben Coak 6-2, 6-2 to win the age group. Milana Thompson took third place and Jack Mitten, another newcomer, won the consolation draw.

The 14 and under category had 13 participants including two new players. Willow Wilkinson secured another title with her win over Alex Priestley 6-2, 7- 5. Rafael Wejbora took third place and Jay Jackson won the consolation draw.

Wejbora and Berksoy took the doubles titles in that age group, defeating newcomers Abi Anderson and Ben Coak.

Jake Booker won the 18 and under division in a hard-fought final against Lauren Fullerton, ultimately winning 3-6, 6-1, 6-1. Jakub Neveril took third place and Zach Jackson won the consolation draw.

Wilkinson and Fullerton took the doubles title in the 18 and under group.

The next tournament will be held 24-26 August at The Courts at The Ritz-Carlton.
