(CNS Local Life): Dr JD Mosley-Matchett, Interim Dean of Academic Affairs and Director of Graduate Studies at the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI), has been elected to the board of commissioners of the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). At its annual conference and assembly meeting held 17-20 April in New Orleans, the council elected new members to its board.

The IACBE board of commissioners is an independent accreditation decision-making body of the council, responsible for advancing its accreditation mission, stated an IACBE press release.

UCCI said separately that Dr Mosley-Matchett “played a crucial role” in its business department’s efforts to obtain IACBE accreditation, which was granted in April 2017. The department earned a commendation from the IACBE board of commissioners for “exemplifying excellence in business education through its faculty who ‘own’ their curricula”. In addition, the UCCI administration was lauded for “providing resources to the department that allow it to grow and continue to provide educational opportunities to students”, UCCI said.

IACBE was founded in 1997 and is “the leader in mission-driven and outcomes-based programmatic accreditation in business and management education for student-centred colleges, universities, and other higher education institutions throughout the world”, said the press release.

The council’s mission is “to promote and recognise excellence in business education” at both the undergraduate and graduate level worldwide. The IACBE has accredited more than 1,500 business and business-related programmes in the US, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Central America and South America.
