(CNS Local Life): Truman Bodden Law School (TBLS) founding director Peter Rowe died 2 June 2018. Rowe accepted the role of director when invited to assist in establishing the school, originally known as the Cayman Islands Law School, by then-Minister of Education Truman Bodden.

Rowe held the position from 1982-1984, following which he returned to his permanent posting at the University of Liverpool’s law school, stated a TBLS press release.

After his return to the university, Rowe was “instrumental” in establishing TBLS’ long-standing affiliation with the UK school, whose undergraduate and postgraduate degrees continue to be offered through the Cayman Islands school.

Rowe maintained “an enduring affection for the law school and the people of the Cayman Islands”, stated the release, and continued in his role as a member of the editorial board of the Cayman Islands Law Review, published by TBLS, up to the time of his death.

He last visited the Cayman Islands in March 2007 when he was invited to be the keynote speaker at the law school’s 25th anniversary celebrations held that year.
