(CNS Local Life): The Zak Quappe Flight Scholarship (ZQFS) has made a donation to the Cayman Airways Flight Club (Clifton Hunter High School chapter) to help send a member to the Florida Institute of Technology’s week-long flight camp this summer. The $1,200 donation is one of many contributions from business sponsors for this year’s camp programme.

Flight Club director Alfred C. Gordon explained in a ZQFS press release that the club’s key objectives are to get students motivated and interested in aviation, and promote discipline while mentoring students on career choices in that field.

The ZQFS, which is separate from the CHHS flight club, was set up to assist young Caymanians with their dreams of becoming pilots. Since the scholarship was created, it has sponsored two such individuals in achieving this dream with a third currently set for 2018 summer training.

Recipients of this support consider this latest donation to the CHHS Flight Club “a perfect vehicle” in which to utilise scholarship funds, the press release said. Anyone interested in assisting the CHHS Flight Club may email Alfred C. Gordon.
