The T E McField Civic Centre, home of long-time meals provider Rehoboth Ministries

(CNS Local Life):  On the heels of long-time meals provider, Rehoboth Ministries, led by Beulah McField, closing its kitchen operations, Meals on Wheels has added a new contractor to feed seniors in need in the George Town and West Bay districts. Starting this week, Champion House has joined the three other contractors to produce the meals, which together cover all five districts in Grand Cayman.

After McField, who operated out of the T. E. McField Civic Centre in George Town, decided to close the kitchen, Meals on Wheels asked for proposals from several prominent businesses with the capacity to produce more than 100 meals a day from Monday to Friday, a press release from the non-profit said. The three other suppliers are the East End Civic Centre, North Side Civic Centre and a private kitchen in Bodden Town.

In the release, Meals On Wheels said it “looks forward to continuing to provide a nutritious hot meal and a soup daily to seniors in need, the home bound and the disabled in Grand Cayman”.

Each weekday, the organisation serves 223 individuals in the community, with meals delivered by more than 100 dedicated volunteers who donate their time and gas. It costs $5 per day to feed a senior in need.

This is great news. But please stop making the hot lunch and soup too peppery. These are our elderly, sick etc…..the spice is not handled well by them.

You all know they are getting paid right? It clearly says “produce” not “donate”.

I am happy that new contractors have stepped up. Many seniors look forward to it as a way to be able to eat. Thank you and God bless all of you doing this for our elderly.
