The Ogier team at last year’s Stroke and Stride

(CNS Local Life): The three-race “Stroke and Stride” in support of young triathletes and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society is set for next month, with Ogier once again coming on as title sponsor. The event consists of three races, held 1, 8 and 15 August, each involving a swim and a run, with the swimming distance increasing by 200m every week, starting at 400m and ending at 800m. Each swim is followed by a two-mile run.

The races will start at 5:45pm at Sunset House.The event is designed to be accessible to runners and swimmers of all levels and no special equipment is required.

Ogier managing partner James Bergstrom said of the event: “We’re pleased to once again be sponsoring Stroke and Stride, which is a fantastic community event for Cayman. We’re looking forward to seeing the community taking part or coming along to support the competitors, and we’re pleased to be supporting the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and young athletes through this event. Good luck to everyone taking part.”

Entry fees for individuals are $15 per race or $35 for all three. Entry fees for teams are $25 per race or $60 for the series. Participants must be members of the Cayman Islands Triathlon Association, which costs $15 annually, with sign-up available at registration. The minimum age on race day is 13, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. There will be no in-person registration on race day.

    I still don’t understand why there is no focus on the Dump, one of the main causes of cancer in Grand Cayman. No money in the world would cure cancer when nothing is being done to prevent it.
    These people are bright enough to understand that, yet they participate in feel good accomplish nothing events. I am puzzled.
    Cancer is a very lucrative business. Especially breast cancer.
