(CNS Local Life): The fifth PwC junior circuit tournament, held 24-26 August, proved to be “another great weekend of tennis”. Albert Berksoy, Willow Wilkinson and Jake Booker took the 10 & under, 14 & under and 18 & under singles titles, respectively, stated a Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands (TFCI) press release.

Despite being near the end of the summer holiday, 20 players took part in singles and eight in doubles. The TFCI organised the tournament, which was sponsored by PwC and held at the Courts at The Ritz-Carlton.

The players all showed “superb tennis skills and sportsmanship”, stated TCFI in the press release. Bersksoy won the 10 & under by defeating Milana Thompson 6-2, 6-4 in the finals, with newcomer Lea Neverilova placing third. In the 14 & under category, Wilkinson, who didn’t drop a set the entire tournament, defeated Sebastian Bjuroe 6-2, 6-2 in the finals. Phin Ellison came third and Ben Priaulx won the consolation match. Booker won the 18 & under division by defeating Oskar Bjuroe 7-5, 6-0 in the finals; Jakub Neveril came third.

In doubles, Booker and Bjuroe won the 18 & Under defeating siblings George and Anna Zimmerman. Rafael Wejbora and Berksoy won the 14 & Under doubles, beating Ellison and Danny Kish.

The final round of the PwC Junior Circuit will be held at the Cayman Islands Tennis Club from 28-30 September.
