(CNS Local Life): Construction is starting Monday, 8 October on a new parking area at the East End Health Centre for patients with mobility issues. The Health Services Authority (HSA) is developing the area as part of ongoing efforts to improve the patient and family experience at all its locations, a press release stated.

HSA CEO, Lizzette Yearwood said of the construction: “Accessible parking is a key factor of our patients’ experience with the organisation and in particular those with mobility challenges.

“This is just one aspect of our strategic approach in considering the differing needs of disabled patients when accessing all our facilities. We will continue to make structural improvements necessary to ensure greater convenience and a more positive experience for these patients.”

She also noted that one of the top considerations of the project was ensuring that disabled parking spots were moved closer to the main entrance of the clinic. The project also includes construction of a sheltered seating area for people waiting for their ride or waiting to be escorted, she said in the press release.

“To our patients, we apologise for the unintended disruptions to normal clinic access, the increased noise levels and any other inconvenience you may experience during the construction phase as we work to improve our facility to better serve you,” Yearwood added.
