(CNS Local Life): A new group of boys at John Gray High School (JGHS) has joined the “Boyz2Men – Turning Boys into Gentlemen” programme, which aims to teach young men how to comport themselves properly while improving their self-esteem. The ceremony to mark the start of the 2018/19 programme recently took place at the school’s devotion with 29 boys (three were absent) given ties embroidered with “Boyz2Men” along with corresponding pins.

Presenting the ties at the ceremony were MLA Kenneth Bryan; JGHS Principal Jonathan Clark and Deputy Principal Richard Wildman; school counsellor Christopher Murray, who has been director of the programme since its inception in 2009; Matthew Hylton, Needs Assessment Unit Director; Simon Miller and Donald Hooker of the National Drug Council; RCIPS Community Officer Christopher Donaldson; Lincoln Robinson of H&A Construction, which employs the boys during summers; JGHS learning mentors Gavin McDougall, Scott Swing, Neil Lumley and Wes Heistand; and JGHS special needs coordinator Elliot Smith.

The boys keep well groomed on the school compound and have been complimented by both staff and fellow school mates, said JGHS in a press release.

The next event under the programme will be a visit this month to The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, where the boys will be trained by hotel staff in social etiquette. After that session, they will escort their mothers on a night of fine dining and showcase their newly learned skills.
