(CNS Local Life): A Cayman Islands hedge fund recently hosted its annual champagne brunch in aid of the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC), with the event raising US$18,000 for the non-profit which provides support and shelter for victims of domestic abuse. The large sum was made possible through the “incredibly generous donations: of attendees to the annual event, hosted by HighWater on Saturday, 8 December, said a press release from the firm.

As guests enjoyed the brunch at Abacus in Camana Bay, the children got into the festive spirit by watching “The Grinch” together at the cinema.

The money raised will help to support CICC’s efforts over the year, and represents a substantial increase over the US$12,000 taken in at the same event hosted by HighWater in 2017.

Ania Milanowska, CICC Executive Director, said of the donation: “We are incredibly thankful for HighWater’s assistance in tackling an issue that still, sadly, affects far too many lives. The amount of money raised goes directly to the Crisis Centre, and the positivity sends out a message that can help women to feel empowered and aware of the support network they have around them.

“I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to every person who made this such a special day. The impact of your kind actions will be felt throughout 2019 and beyond.”

HighWater Managing Director Gary Linford said, “We are truly proud to contribute to such a special cause. Our team works hard throughout the year and we relish the opportunity to support our local community in rallying together for an important cause.”
