DoE looking to fill Brac position

| 25/01/2019

Would you find out if DoE has any plans to replace the former marine officer on the Brac?

Auntie’s answer: This question came up in the comments this week under this article: Local grouper sites offer hope for species survival. I contacted the Department of Environment for a response and once more I received a reply very quickly and I want to thank them for their diligence.

The position in question is that of a conservation (marine parks enforcement) officer, as the person in that job left the department in December 2018. A DoE representative explained that recruitment for a replacement officer began soon after that departure.

Nine people subsequently applied for the job, and the DoE has shortlisted three for interviews. At the same time, the department is also looking to fill a field officer post for the Sister Islands. Interviews for both positions are scheduled for early next month.

The official added, “We will make the decisions as soon as possible after the interviews.”
